Craft Fair March 2010 |

Our first Craft Fair of the year went very well. It made £413.49 profit. Our next one on 9th May should be even better as we have made space for 26 stalls. |

Our Mobile Tombola has visited several venues through the year and has raised in excess of 400.00 |

Our Kiosk in the precinct of Hoveton has been very profitable and raised in almost 5,000. We decided to round it off to be able to give 2,500 to Hearing Dogs and 2,500 to Make a Wish. The Kiosk opens again in May |

Craft Fairs 2009 |

We have had a good year with our Craft Fairs. We have raised in excess of 1,200. We have decided to hold 4 fairs in 2010 the dates are 7th March.... 9th May.... 12th September.... and 7th November. ... These will be at our usual venue, The Broadland Youth Comunity Centre 10.00 till 4.00. Admission is free. Refreashments available including our renown bacon rolls. See you there. |

Furniture Sales 2009 |

We have had a great year with our Furniture Sales. Our members have worked really hard getting the furniture from A to B and back again. We raised in excess of 7,000. The first one in 2010 is 31st January. With the rest following every 2 months |

2 young ladies Jess and Heidi from East Anglia Air Ambulance paid a visit to our meeting in October to be presented with a cheque for £4,560. This being half the proceeds from our Motor Show in August |

Motor Neurone Disease 2009 |

Mr Malcolm Chuback from the Motor Neurone Disease paid a visit to our meeting back in October to receive a cheque from us for the sum of £4,650. This was half of the proceeds from our Motor Show in August. |

In August this year we had another very successful day. The theme this year was James Bond with a statue of the man himself along with several of the cars used in the films. The day raised a total of £9,300 |

In May this year we were given the opportunity of sponsoring a golden labrador for £10,000 to become a canine partner. Our chosen dog is called Pride and you can see a photo of him in our photo section. |

Changeover Dinner 16th June 2009 |

We had our changeover dinner on 16th June this year. It was a great evening of good food and great company. We thanked Lis Walker for her successful past year as our President. We then welcomed our new President for the coming year Mike Clipston. |

Fundraising and Donations Update |

Well its nearly half year already and our club has been very busy. FEB: We gave £2500 donation to Palliative Care and Young Carers.....A Mrs Cole from Norfolk and Suffolk Guide Dogs came to give us a talk along with her friend Rodney and his guide dog Nero. Very interesting.........We gave £2000 to Nancy Oldfield Trust for another Yeoman........We also gave £1000 to the Australian Wildfires Appeal..........MAR: We gave to Alzheimers Society £1500, this being proceeds from our mobile Tombola..........We have donated £1250 to the Community Centre Funds...........Horning Mother and Toddler group received £100 to keep it going........APR:Sea Palling Lifeboat received £500 from us to help with thier running costs........We gave Childline £250.................Wroxham Guides are starting up and needed a shed for all their equipment, we gave them £700...........Our street collection in Wroxhan raised £300.43 for Cystic Fibrosis.......MAY: We gave Stalham High School £250 to take to Kenya.......£250 was given to MacMillan Nurses and Marie Curie Nurses........Broadlands High School have been given £500 towards the cost of replacing their school mini bus........We have given £580 for 5 kits containing teaching materials for 3rd world war torn areas. Each kit caters for 80 children......Canine Partners are to receive from us £10,000 for the traning of one these wonderful dogs. £5000 now and £5000 in six months time...........We have heard of a young 8 year old girl who is very poorly. After10 operations cannot walk, eat or swallow. She would benifit from a laptop to help her to try and catch up with and proceed with her school work. We will be setting this up for her a cost of £450-500.............. |

Our First meeting of the year revealed we had a very succussful Christmas Collection, raising over £3200. Being £166 up on last year.
District Governor Lion George Harris attended our meeting saying it was good to see how much we enjoy ourselves and how very active we are out in the community. He exchanged banners with our preseidant Lion Lis. |

An Evening with Angian Air Ambulance |

When we presented a cheque for over 5,000 to Anglian Air Ambulance we were invited to spend an evening being shown round the helicopter. This will take place on the 1st October 2008. We are all looking forward to this. |

The Motor Show And Family Fun Day |

The Motor Show was our biggest venture so far.Planning it for 18 months. We all put a great deal of time and effort into making it a success especially the man with the dream Lion Mike Clipson. It was a fantanstic day far greater than we hoped for. The car dealers couldnt praise us enough and all want to book a permanent pitch for the coming years. We are all very proud, even more so when we found we had raised over £10,000 for Anglian Air Ambulance and Down Syndrome Norfolk. |

It is with much regret that we lost this lovely man on 13th June 2008. His service to the Lions has been second to none. He touched many many lives and will be greatly missed. |

The Charity Train. |

220plus people had a wonderful evening on the charity train from Sheringham to Holt on the 7th June 2008. We all boarded at Sheringham and made our way to Holt whilst being waited on by voluntary staff with cheese and wine. We then made our way back to Sheringham still being given cheese and wine. Then much to many people surprise we set off again. This time we stopped half way at Webourne. Here we were greeted with live music on the platform from a father and son band playing Shadows music. It went down a treat with hot drinks from the platform cafe. We finally headed back to Sheringham and a great time was had by all on this wonderful steam train that was donated for the evening by the North Norfolk Railway company.There is one man to thank for this enjoyable event and thats Bob Walker. He gave his time and enegy non stop to make it a great night. |

Lions Terry and Julie met fellow lions whilst on holiday in New Zealand in Jan/2008. They will be in UK this year and will be enjoying Terry and Julie's hospitality and plan to have a meal out with all our members. |

Our 32nd Chater Lunch held on the 3rd Feb 2008 was a great success. 75 people attended. The meal was excellant. Plus we were pleased to present £2,500 for Prostrate Cancer Unit, £1,500 for Norfolk & Norwich Association for the Blind, £2,500 for the Breast Cancer Care and £500 for the District Governors wife's appeal. |

Caister-on-Sea Lifeboat |

Wroxham and Hoveton Lions were able to help The Caister-on-Sea in their efforts to raise the money for a new replacement Lifeboat. This should be as larger and faster boat. |

At the District 105EA Convention on Saturday 20th March at The Hilton Hotel, Norwich the Club were winners of The District Scribe of the Year Trophy. Lion President Mike Barker had much pleasure in collecting the Award on behalf of lion David Pye, who had made all the contributions for the Club. |
