Presidential Change Over

This month we say thank you to Lion President Ron Hill for his year of service as president.

We also welcome PDG Lion Dennis Moxon into his new role of President of the club in it’s 50th year.

A lovely high tea was had at the Hotel Wroxham.

Sarah of Horning’s new wheelchair

Sarah of Horning, has just taken delivery of her new wheelchair, the purchase of which the Club was delighted to fund, as it will greatly enhance her mobility and quality of life.

Brownies receive Lions Challenge Badges

Brownies from Wroxham and Hoveton were presented with their Lion Challange Badges. With Lion Lydia Spight doing the honours.

The Challenge is designed to teach and encourage participants in five ‘Areas of Excellence’ – Creative, Community, Communications, Environment and Safety. Participants undertake tasks and learn new skills appropriate to their age group over a period of several weeks. The Badge joins the many others that Brownies and Guides work to earn during their guiding career.

Donation to Play and Stay

Recently we were pleased to be able to donate £400 to the local “Play and Stay” group in Wroxham, to enable them to purchase play equipment.
Rev Liz Jump said they were most grateful for the donation and was photographed at a group session with Lions Tony Risebrow, Chair of our Welfare Committee.

Scarlett shows off her new wheelchair

At our October meeting, we were delighted to welcome Scarlett Phillips and her family.

Scarlett suffers from a condition which makes it hard for her to get about. To help with this she needed to have a custom-made specialised wheelchair to get around. An approach was made to the Club and we were pleased to be able to contribute £6,500 towards the total cost of almost £15,000.

At the formal handing over, Scarlett was also given her a cuddly Lion as a souvenir of the evening.

Scarlett said she was very pleased with the chair and could now go on adventures!

Presentations to Andy and Lydia Spight

At our 47th Charter Dinner at The Old Rectory Crostwick on 28th January, the Club was pleased to present both Lions Lydia Spight and Andy Spight with well deserved Melvin Jones Fellow awards, in recognition of their unwavering work and dedication to the Club.
